ryo had erroneously believed that the image was free to use, however viewers of the video pointed out that ryo had in fact used another artist's works without permission. ryo used an illustration of Hatsune Miku drawn by an artist named 119 (ひけし, pronounced hikeshi) that he had found on a wallpaper distribution website as the background image for the Melt video.
Ryo first submitted his second original song Melt (メルト) to Nico Nico Douga on December 7th, 2007, which became a huge success. They originally produced music with vocals by Hatsune Miku, but have transitioned to human vocalists after signing to Sony Records in 2008. supercell is comprised of 11 members, with ryo producing the music and lyrics for the group, while the other members provide illustrations and support.
